My Life as a Schoolgirl

So I'm back in school. This semester, at least, I only have to make the 2.5 hour round trip three times a week, though two of the three days I have to be on campus from 10 am until 9 pm. Long days, long days. The irony of such a schedule is that all three classes I'm taking could, in my opinion, meet for much shorter times. We are consistently given "time to work" in class. For the most part I would much rather work from home. Ah well. At least the classes are interesting, especially the one on packaging design.

My schedule is not without its perks: I have a 3.5 hour break in the afternoons on Monday and Wednesday, so I have been running and lifting weights with Moggie. This is very exciting for me, as I stopped running after the Pulmonary Embolism in December. Something about the getting out of breath and having a rapid heartbeat put me off some. So running with Moggie is fabulous. If I were trying to go it alone, I wouldn't be nearly as motivated. Trust me, I know this from experience. Our goal is to get into better shape, and then stay that way all winter. Not so easy to do in the land of 10,000 snowstorms! We might even ease into training for Grandma's come February. For a while I've been saying that I might prefer the Twin Cities Marathon to Grandma's, but hey, if I have someone to train with, any marathon will do, don't you think? Anyway, Halenbeck Hall has a great fitness center these days, as well as a very nice indoor track and even a climbing wall and massage therapist (I'm sure it comes as no surprise that I'm much more inclined to make use of the latter.)

What a horrifying commute! I don't care how fabulous a program or school is; I simply couldn't bear to drive that far and keep such looooong hours. I'd have to keep an apartment there (or risk killing somebody as I blearily drove back home).

Lemony, you are amazing!

I am glad to hear that you're back running, too. It must feel so good!

Here's to your health, wealth, and well-being!
